It’s been awhile-to say the least, and I apologize to all of my avid readers. I’ve been writing a four page essay for my english class just about every week and writing has become less desirable. So picking up from where I left up…well, my last blog was that super awesome Cow commercial so we will just start fresh.
Scott, Porkchop, and I went to Ohio last week. Porkchop was shuffled around more than he has ever been and I think he managed quite well. He finally got to meet his biggest fan and I’m sure if he could talk he would tell us how much he loves her and how cool she is (Mrs. Connie). Porkchop also thought highly of Grandma Young, so much so he decided to mark a spot on her floor by leaving her a lovely present.
While in Ohio Scott and I were able to finally see some reception sites in person. We went and saw three places and each place offered a different element that the other two didn’t.
The first place we saw was Castaway Bay which offered hotel accommodations. I really like the idea of having our reception at a hotel that way once the reception is done our guest can just go to their rooms. The only problem with Castaway Bay is the pirate kiddie appeal it has. Once you walk in it screams “ahoy, matie, welcome to Scott and Sabrina’s reception…..yarr” eh, I’m not really feeling it. Also Castaway Bay is right on the lake but they don’t utilize that, their reception room is confined and has no windows. booooo!!!
The second place we saw was Lyman Harbor which was the one place that provided us with a view of Lake Erie. Lyman also seemed to have the most spacious and elegant reception room(s) but the outside gives it a warehouse feel. The view also wasn’t the most appealing because of the boat docks/cranes that stand in the way of the actual lake. Another thing that I didn’t really care for is that Lyman Harbor will most likely be hosting another wedding in it’s other banquet room the same night as ours. Not to sound like a snob, but I don’t want to share my wedding day with someone else’s wedding (at least not right next door).
The final place we looked at was Plum Brook Country Club which probably had the smallest reception room and isn’t on the lake. Out of all three of the places we saw, I think Scott and I are leaning more towards this place. They even had tiffany blue napkins. We were able to talk to the chef and he seemed enthusiastic about creating some Korean appetizers for our wedding. We’re not including any Korean traditions in our wedding but I at least want some part of my culture involved. I think if I were full Korean than we would have to incorporate more, which I will discuss later because I’m getting off topic.Plum Brook also has huge windows that overlook the golf course and they have an area for outside seating which will be nice for anyone who smokes. Scott and I really liked the chef and think that having golf carts accessible would be a cute addition (my words not his).
Okay back on to the topic of a traditional Korean wedding. I’m not full Korean and I only briefly know what a traditional Korean wedding consists of. Incorporating those traditions would be kind of fake because I honestly don’t know enough about Korean wedding traditions..The extent of my knowledge on Korean weddings would be the wardrobe(the bride wears a “hanbok”) and something about the groom giving the bride’s mother a duck/goose or something…lol…see I don’t know. So that being said, It would be hypocritiacal of me to expect Scott to do a traditional Korean wedding when I myself know very little. I still want to acknowledge my culture some how, which is why I plan on including what I do know - food!!! :-) I want to have Korean appetizers, Yaki-Mandu, and Kim Bop. Oh, and I also want to have chopsticks and some sort of rice in the entree. left- This is what a Traditional Korean Bride and groom would look like. Although, I believe the attire of most Korean weddings is becoming more “westernized”.
right- This is a hanbok, my mom has a couple of these and when I was little I remember my mom wearing hers to Church (korean church) on special occasions. I used to always want one when I was little.
bottom- Koreans aren’t the only one’s sporting hanboks! hehe that’s Brittney Spears, Paris Hilton and another actress… although Paris’ is very elaborate and not a typical hanbok.
This is what Kim bop looks like. It’s made with spinach, beef, carrots, pickled root, fish cake, artificial crab meat, egg, rice and seaweed. Most of my friends looove kim bop. This isn’t sushi, there’s no raw meat in it whatsoever.
This is what yakimando looks like. It pretty much consists of the same ingredients of an egg roll but it’s prepared differently and taste 20 times better. I’m biased, I know.
Alrighty, aside from wedding stuff Scott and I are looking at houses. This is a very exciting step in both of our lives. :-) I think while Scott’s focusing more on the logistics of it all I’m more of the house hunter/researcher (as usual). I’m an amazing bargain shopper and negotiator(regardless of what you may believe). My major selling points on a house is:
1. Location
2. kitchen –because it’s the most expensive room to vamp up annnd I like to cook and need my space
3. Closet space (master bedroom)
4. A nice tub, because I looove water and therefore enjoy my baths :-)
I guess I should do some more research and look for houses that fall under the guidelines of having a good resell value.
Here’s the latest Porkchop news:
Porkchop recently got a haircut by myself annnnd I accidently trimmed a chunk out and therefore had to even it out by cutting his hair short. He is still cute and could probably pull off any hairstyle I gave him. After our trip to Ohio we decided to give porkchop some more responsibility and haven’t been putting him in his crate when we leave. He is doing very well and I think pretty soon he will no longer have to use his crate.We are also letting him go potty without the supervision of a leash. He isn’t the best at getting his business down and then coming back inside but he is certainly getting there.
On an ending note, we have all seen porckchop “freeze” and we have all seen superporkers…. I would like to introduce Superchops Freeezing! haha don’t forget to watch the video…it doesn’t have the normal fancy editing because Scott decided to update my computer and I lost that program.
Front of the house. You can’t see it but there are a bunch of garden gnomes in the front lawn. If we buy this house I think we may ask the owner for the gnomes…haha jk

Kitchen, one thing I love and another thing you can’t see is the kitchen cabinet knobs. They’re flatware; forks, spoons, and knifes- I was like “awe, I want this house just for the cabinet knobs…haha.

Backyard, has a porch that you can’t see and a swing set. Yes, there’s a pool but it’s not very deep, it’s described as a play pool and as you can see there’s not much grass for Porkchop.

I've made 8 pocketfold invitations w/o the details and ribbon. I have also been working on the tiny paper cranes as well and I think I'm going to start every blog from here on out with a crane count. Crane count right now is 50, only 950 more to go! Recently I've attended 2 bridal shows so far with 2 of my friends who are also engaged (one with Natalie and one with Andrea). The last one I went to was a blast. I won a cute bridal shirt, crystal flute glasses and got lots of other fun cute stuff. I'm going to have to look for one in OH and drag Scott's mom and Aunt to one. 
Scott has been working like crazy the last couple of weeks. This past week he has had training. I feel for him because he will have class for 10 plus hours and come home to work. Hopefully once he has gotten the hang of things he won't have to work as much.
