We've moved!!!-our blog that is! :-D

Yes, it is true, we moved our blog to another blog host. Luckily, we were able to relocate all of our existing entries while maintaining their original post date and time. Why did we move our blogs? -Our Live account wasn't allowing people to comment on our blogs unless they had a Microsoft Live account. That being said, we've relocated to another host which allows anyone to leave their mark on our page. Comment away!

No, it hasn't taken us 7 months to pack up our old blogs and unpack them here (that only took 1 evening); it's just taken us 7 months to update our blog. Not that we haven't had any exciting news to share with you (yes, "you" audience of 5...maybe less now that we've moved) we've been busy with; work, school, wedding planning, and doggies-yes that's plural.

In January we expanded our happy family of 3 and got a New puppy (YAY!), Penelope Cakes Young. We thought Porkchop would like to have a his own dog but when he refused to take her on walks and potty train her, we realized that a 8 week old puppy was (is) a lot of work. When you get one 5 months before your out of state wedding, you're silly or an over achiever. -We will let you be the judge on that one.

There she is below (8wks old), our little Penelopoopers loving on her big brother. Yes, we decided to go with another Westie. When you have an awesome dog like Porkchop, you have high hopes. We are safe to say that Porkchop was false advertisement! They have the same tendencies but very different personalities. Penelope is VERY hyper (yes, she's a puppy-we are well aware), super cuddly and malleable. Kind of a weird word to use to describe a dog but we can literally fold her leg under while she's laying and she doesn't flinch. OR if you pick her up she will lay anyway you place her. CRAZY! -We know!!

I have been working on training Ms. Penelope but all she knows thus far is how to sit and lay down. Oh, we of course have a video! Our first Penelope edition! ooooooh ahhhhhh lol

and here's a video of Penelope playing Fetch with Scott

Aside from spending 2 months on potty training Ms. Poopers, we've had a couple of pre-wedding celebrations. We flew to Ohio mid March and did all things wedding; cake tasting, food tasting, met with the priest, engagement pictures and my mother-in-law threw us a lovely couples shower all within 2 days! My mother also flew to Ohio and met Scott's family for the first time.

Prior to our couples shower we took engagement pictures at the family cottage; which is right off of Lake Erie. Our wedding photographer met us there and spent a couple of hours capturing us in a couple of different outfits. It was freezing (according to me) but despite the cold weather it was a lot of fun. On the right is one of several pictures we took.

We also had a wonderful shower thanks to Scott's parents, and all of our friends and family who traveled to be there with us.

In April we celebrated Natalie and Gregory DeCuir's wedding. They got married April 24th. Natalie and Greg had a beautiful wedding at Saint Patrick's Cathedral in downtown Fort Worth. Their theme was "It's a bird it's a plane.." Playing off Greg's occupation as a pilot and their decor of peacock feathers. Scott and I had a blast. Here are a few pictures from their day.

In May we celebrated our Bachelor(ette) parties on the same day-not together. Scott's friends flew down from Ohio and stayed for along weekend. My friend *Carly* also flew in from Ohio and secretly planed/organized my entire Bachelorette party-which was amazing!

Scott celebrated his bachelor party for that entire weekend. Part of his festivities included visiting several "classy" restaurants in Texas; ex., Twink Peaks, and Bone Daddies. Establishments similar to Hooters but according to the guys they're "better".

The guys did lunch at Twin Peaks-which is where the wait staff's (girls) uniform consists of a tiny flannel top, short khaki shorts, and mountain boots. The guys came back home several hours after lunch wanting to share pictures with me. I honestly am not the type of girl who wants to see what her future husband is doing at his bachelor party (this case bachelor weekend). But after Carly gave it the look over and laughed, which deemed it "okay" I decided to and had a good laugh as well. Apparently at Twin Peaks the guys were all talked into trying on the girls flannel top on for a free shot and a photo op. The photo below was one I actually took off of Twin Peak's facebook page. lol

This is the 4 that agreed to try on the tops! lol

My bachelorette party was an all day affair, rather than an entire weekend. Prior to the festivities I had my final dress fitting. The day was planned by Carly and I was along for a super fun ride. We had lunch at Joe T. Garcia's, which consisted of yummy mexican food and Margaritas. Later we headed to downtown Fort Worth and checked into a large suite at Sheraton. At the hotel we had mimosas, played games, and I got spoiled with lots of amazing gifts; 1 of them being a huge box from my maid of honor (who couldn't make it down from Portland) Andrea. Carly made dinner reservations at Piranha Killer Sushi (it was the first time I'd ever been there and it was Super yummy-I ordered the "Marry Me Roll" :-D ) and we had a fun girls night out in down town Fort Worth.

That was a fun weekend for the both of us. After our parties our wedding was a couple of weeks away. I ended up flying to Ohio May 29th and my maid of honor Andrea flew in the following day. I would loooove to blog about our wedding because it was also a huge event that took place during my blog absence BUT due to the overload of info in this blog I will save the wedding part for another blog-perhaps one that is titled "Our Wedding".

While blogging Porkchop came up and decided to lay next to me. I just so happened to capture the picture with my laptop. Thought I'd share. Love this little guy!!

We’ll just throw all of the Holidays into one blog

Halloween

For Halloween Scott and I went over to our friends James and Michelle’s house and celebrated with friends. James made some amazing chicken gumbo, I baked chocolate chip oatmeal raisin cookies, and Laurel brought over these delicious pumpkin cupcakes.

After eating we drank some warm apple cider and passed out candy to their neighbors. The winner of the cutest costume goes out to this little baby:

halloween 011 HOW CUTE! He was a little lobster and if you didn’t notice his parents had lobster bibs on… lol

Once it was past all of the trick or treater’s bed time we decided to pile into the living and watch scary movies which was then followed by visiting a haunted bridge.

halloween 013All piled high into Laurel’s explorer… if you couldn’t tell, this is Scott sitting in the back of the explorer

THANKSGIVING

Scott and I would have love to have spent Thanksgiving in Ohio but for financial reasons (pricey tickets) we opted to stay home for Thanksgiving. Instead of Thanksgiving dinner on Thanksgiving day we hosted a pre-Thanksgiving potluck with all of our friends. I regretfully didn’t take pictures other than my turkey. We do not have a dinning room set yet so everyone gathered around our breakfast table and a fold out table and we ate dinner in lawn chairs. It definitely was a sight to see. I will be sure to remember to take pictures next time.

Our thanksgiving dinner consisted of, Turkey, Ham, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cornbread casserole, sweet potato casserole, 4 cheese macaroni, rolls, cookies, pumpkin pie, cheesecake filled red velvet cupcakes, and cheesecake brownies….agh, Scott and I ate like kings and queens for the next 5 days and by Thanksgiving day hit, we were all turkey-out.

Christmas!!!!

Agh, My MOST favorite holiday of them all. I really don’t have much to write here. I have wrapped the majority of our presents and only have a few more to wrap (which I haven’t bought yet). I made my first wreath this year and the most exciting part about this years Christmas is that I finally have a home of my own to decorate, and I DID! -to a certain extent. We plan to get a bigger Christmas tree and more decorations once the holiday season is over and everything is on sale.

12.2009 007My Christmas wreath, I think it turned out really nice for someone who had no clue as to what they were doing.

12.2009 004 Greenery before I added in some berries and sparkle

12.2009 011 TA-DAH! I personally think it looks 20X better in person. I even made the bows

12.2009 012Mantle…. took some greenery and decorated that as well… There’s also a ginger Scott, and Ginger Sabrina on the mantle ;-)

12.2009 013 Our Christmas tree. I got this free from a roommate several years ago. Most of our ornaments are pink which were all pre-Scott ornaments. Hopefully these will soon be weeded out with our tradition-the ornaments we buy each other every year.

Our House:

In between these holidays we have found sometime to make some minor updates to our home.

We decided to paint our front door black and replace the hardware. This our door before its makeover.

fall 09 032

This is our front door after a good sand job, fresh coat of pain and new hardware. Looks like a BRAND new door! I love it!

We also painted our light fixture. A new light this size would’ve at least cost $40-50. We bought a can of spray paint and did this for about 6 bucks!

We found this mirror in our attic. It was so weathered that the dust in the creases had become a part of the mirror.

This was another $6 can of spray paint job.

On an ending note, Scott and I did a Pre Cana this past Sunday. We were both pretty apprehensive about the whole thing but in the end we both found the class to be very helpful.

Oh yeah, Here’s a little Porkchop for all of you Porkchop lovers:

Exactly 7 more months!

Can you believe that there’s only 7 more months left! Crazy. I feel like we have been engaged forever now….not that that is a bad thing. It is just nice to no longer be counting down from 500 something days. :-) Scott and I have been super busy these past couple of months. We’ve gone to 2 weddings in Cincinnati, OH.

The first wedding we attended was Kyle and Kristen’s Wedding September 19, 2009

kk

I took this picture from Kristen’s facebook. Thought it was cute. They got married during Oktoberfest in Cinci.

And then 2 weeks following Kyle and Kristen’s wedding we were back in Cincinnati to attend and be apart of Justin and Carly;s wedding October 3, 2009. Scott and I were able to walk down the aisle together as a bridesmaid and groomsmen.

Other than the weddings I have been working on my own. I have made the majority of our invitations. I just need to get the printed stuff printed out. AND we got our amazing save the dates out.

wed copy My 17 year old sister drew them for us. We absolutely love them and think they came out amazing!

Oh and we got our wedding website going. OUR WEDDING WEBSITE

This month Scott’s friend from Ohio Dougie is supposed to be staying with us for 5 days. My mother is also coming up to visit from Houston and we are planning on hosting a pre thanksgiving meal with our friends.

As far as our house goes I surprised Scott while he was out of town and painted his office. He still needs furniture and we will have pictures up as soon as its completed.

On an ending note here’s a little PORKCHOP! :-)

halloween 002

We have had a couple of weeks of cold weather… it’s no back to averaging about 75 degrees here but while it was cold Porkchop loved snuggling up in his blanket. We may have to get him one of these:
