Christmas Ebe-that's korean slang for Eve

Okay, okay I know it's been a while AGAIN... I need to be better about writing more often. Waiting to write, makes the blogs longer and there's more pressure for them to be awesome because there's sooo much hype on them - okay, not really. lol I did tell Scott that he would need to contribute his say and write a blog every now and then.

DECEBMER, what an interesting month. I finally finished my first semester of school and I did decent. A 3.5 GPA which may sound really good but that's at a local community college, I feel as though I can do better next semester.

Perhaps the most exciting news is Scott's new job. For those of you who I don't talk to on a frequent basis weren't aware of this but as of December 19th, Scott's whole team at Microsoft was laid off. We knew about this about two months ago but I didn't want to blog about it because it just wasn't something that we felt necessary to share with the world. BUT now that Scott has a new job, it's okay. :-) He will be basically doing the same thing but for a Microsoft partner that's based in Houston. Luckily we won't have to move to Houston ( no offense mom ). Scott doesn't start working until January 2nd so we've been enjoying our little break together...in other words we've been kind of lethargic together. hehe

We have also started going to church, St. Michael Catholic Church. It took a little work/nagging to get Scott to go the first Sunday but after that he actually looked forward to it. I wasn't raised catholic, so this is pretty new to me. I grew up going to non-denominational churches and Korean church. Mass is very different from what I am used to. I have lots of questions, and not knowing certain things makes me feel lost. Nonetheless, I do enjoy it and feel comfortable attending and hopefully overtime I will have a better understanding on everything.

As far as Wedding plans go. We really haven't done too much. Scott wanted to hold off on wedding talk until he had a job secured. I do have a plan for our invitations and other little details. We also will be moving the wedding to the Summer of 2010. My friend Natalie/maid of honor kind of booked the day I was planning. I don't really want our wedding too close to hers so we decided to push it back some. It's probably better this way because the weather will be nicer and I won't have to worry about it interfering with school. Oh, and since I'm on the subject, I found something very cool. My ring looks exactly like a ring Tiffany & Co. (jewelry store) carries. With the exception of a carat, and I think mine sits a little higher, they look identical.

image
Sorry the picture is really big.

Scott and I originally planned on being in Ohio with his family but because of the recent shift in careers, we decided it would be best to wait. Since we will be celebrating Christmas with each other, we decided to celebrate Christmas our own way, mixing our traditions together. I finally caved in and spent most of today making Scott's mom's cookies. He made me feel bad because he gets his mom's cookies every year and wouldn't be this year. He also mentioned his ex was given the actual dough before and never made them for him. So of course I had to make them. I do have a lot more respect for his mom; making these cookies is a lot of work. I also made a Scott and Sabrina cookie. I used a gingerbread cookie cutter and just rolled Scott out to be taller and rolled his head out a little more. Lol he didn't find that to be funny. ;-) I need to get some more pastry bags and tips because my tools were a chopstick, one tip, a freezer zip lock bag, and a spatula. I used the bag and tip for the green frosting and didn't feel like changing the colors out to reuse it. I'm pretty pooped now. Tomorrow we plan on opening presents (yay) go to the movies, and for dinner I'm making Korean food. :-) I'm slowly trying to introduce Korean food to Scott. He is actually taking a liking to most of it.

tis’ the season

It’s been a very long time since I last blogged and I hope I haven’t lost all 5 of my readers. Things have been hectic around the Scott & Bina house. I just started working another job at Dillards. No worries it’s just seasonal and I did the same job last year so it’s doable. School ends next week and I couldn’t be more excited! Hooray for Christmas break!!

Last week Scott, Porkchop and I had Thanksgiving dinner at Natalie and Greg’s house. It was really nice but I’m hoping that we get to go to Ohio next year. Maybe I can be Scott’s mom’s Su Chef next year. I cooked the turkey, stuffing and made several desserts. Scott wanted me to make his mom’s recipe of Sugar cookies but I refused to ask her for the recipe b.c

a. That’s something Scott needs to keep and have to look forward to from his mommy
b. I didn’t want to mess them up
c. annnd most importantly, I hear Mrs. Young has to make 50 billion of them and I just don’t think I’m cut out for that

thanksgiving 078thanksgiving 086 I just stuck to the basics. I made the biggest turkey I have ever made…22lbs I brined the turkey 48 hours prior to baking it, with salt and bay leaves. I also buttered it up and basted it with a butter chardonnay sauce for the first 3 hours every 30 mins. FUN! Ooooh also I made cornbread stuffing because Scott’s never had it.

I haven’t posted any Porkchop videos lately but I think this one will make up for the lack of videos. I think this one is by far the cutest!

Told ya soo! Scott and I lucked out on Mr. Porkchop…by far the best dog! hehe I have a biased opinion but still.

christmas 035 Yesterday we took our cheesy Christmas pictures so be looking out for those in the mail. Scott was really excited to dress up and take them…okay not really but he was a team player. Ooooh and we also put up our Christmas tree. It was a hand down from one of my old roommates which means it was free…yay but I’m not in love with the super colorful lights …I like white lights annnd all of my ornaments are pink lol. Scott also joined in on one of my other Christmas traditions…buying a new ornament yearly. Maybe by the time we’re in our late 30’s we will have weeded out all of the pink ones with the yearly ornaments. I got him a PDA(computer phone) ornament which says on the screen “can’t live without PDA” and I told him it was a double bonus b.c PDA also means Public Displays of Affection sooo win win for Scott… lol I know I’m a dork. Scott picked me out a baking ornament for me, it’s really cute.

Go Browns!!

porkchop 005 porkchop 008 I’m sure Scott will appreciate my title. Scott and David watched the Browns on Monday. I had a work meeting and didn’t get to catch the full game but I made it back in time to bring more beer annnd a orange a white sweater for porkchop. :-) It’s really cute on him and I think it actually put a big smile on Scott’s face, oh, and seeing the Browns win.

Right now Porkchop and “daddy:” are playing. I like it when Scott and Porkchop are all cuddly with each other. I capture a picture of them cuddling every now and then.porkchop 004mix 009

Porkchop got fixed last week. I’m sorry Mom and Scott’s mommy, but y’all will not be great grandmothers any time soon. lol Porkchop was kind of bonkers last week. He walked around crying for the first day and kept trying to run around the second day. He wasn’t allowed to play for at least 3 days which made for a very long 3 days. He was babied more than ever last week. He is back to being superporkers this week.

mix 057mix 045Last week I had extra time to do some baking since I wasn’t chasing Porkchop around the apartment. I actually got a little carried away. I made the best banana bread (it had a sugar glaze), chocolate chip cookies, I found a recipe for Scotties (thought that was cute, a must make) and I made cookie dough truffles. The cookie dough truffles was an actual recipe, therefore it didn’t have any raw eggs.

It’s crazy how the year is nearing an end! It’s gone by soooo fast. Next week will already be Thanksgiving. It’ll be the very first holiday Scott and I will be spending together. Crazy huh?! Last year Scott was in Ohio for Thanksgiving, Christmas, & New Years. He was out of town on V-day, we both worked on St. Patty’s, Easter, 4th of July, and Halloween. We will be having Thanksgiving at our friend Natalie and Greg’s house. I’m making the Turkey annnd knowing Natalie I might be making/”assisting” with more. hehe

Scott started playing some Christmas music…awe, how can I not love him! And on a last note Scott misses you Momma Connie. :-)

Political Porkchops

Soooo Scott’s in California working on his tan (okay, just the working) and Porkchop and I are once again hanging out. Scott and I voted last week and I was really hoping that our votes would be the 2 Texas needed. I was told my vote wouldn’t make a difference in Texas but I was being optimistic. :-D Regardless of Texas’ outcome Obama won. I predicted Obama and told Scott it would be a landslide win. Porkchop and I are celebrating at home.

political puppers 004 political puppers 005 political puppers 012

Regardless of your political stand point you can’t deny his cuteness! :-D If I ever go into politics, Porkchop will be campaigning for me. His shirt says “I voted for change”.

I’m watching Obama’s speech right now. How moving and amazing is this, history in the making. I’m really excited for this change, our nation needed this and I think Obama is going to be a great president. With his win, change has already begun. Several people have told me that they don’t like Obama but never have anything to support their opinion. I have even been told that Obama will be shot. How horrid is that and the people who make those kind statements only feed the fire of racism and are ignorant. I don’t care who you are, republican, democratic, white, black, Indian or a Porkchop, Obama’s speech moving and gives this nation hope. My favorite part was about the Atlanta woman who couldn’t vote before because she was black and everything she went through and how she lived to vote and see the first black president.

On a different note:

Last week Porkchop and I dressed up for halloween. Scott and I got Porkchop a Frankenstein hat. His ears are a tad too big and he was more interested in chewing on it. That being said he was only Frankenstein for a minute. I on the other hand only dressed up for work. I was a tennis player. I had a tennis skirt and used a shirt I had from high school. It wasn’t very festive but it was free and how can you go wrong with that?

Pokchop is so smart

Today Scott and I both had off so we decided to run some errands. We stopped by Petsmart in search of a Christmas outfit for Porkchop 002 Porkers. Every year I send out Christmas cards with a dorky picture of myself. This will be the first year I will be including someone else in my little tradition. I normally make ornaments and mail those out but I think cheesy pictures of our little family will be enough. Especially since my Christmas card list has also doubled. We didn’t find a santa or elf outfit buuut we did find the cutest jersey.

Scott’s schedule is kind of bonkers (that’s a fun word) this week. He flies out on Wed. to DTW and will return on Sat. Sun he flies out again to San Francisco and I believe he won’t be returning till Thurs. I don’t know how we used to manage our time together before because my schedule used to be just as chaotic if not more. I sometimes miss being a flight attendant, think I always will but looking at Scott’s schedule is just a reminder of how much I dreaded flying every week.

I have some really awesome news to share. Porkchop is a skilled hand/paw shaker!. It is soooo stinking cute! Yesterday was officially the first night he grasped the concept on his own. It was very rewarding to see him do this. It was a pleasant ending to my bad day. Of course I have video and dorkified it for everyone.

I’m trying to teach him one command at a time so it’s not confusing/overwhelming for him. Since he has mastered shaking I started teaching him to lay down. He actually picked up how to do it in like 5 minutes. I’m very proud of our porkchop. I probably won’t teach him anything new until next week.

If you like Pina Coladas

I rarely drink and when I say rarely I mean like once MAAAYBE twice a month. I think Scott’s tolerance has lowered since he has met me. I just don’t really care for alcohol and I’m goofy as is. Scott and I are having a drinky drink tonight. He’s drinking some coors light and was excited to hear me tell him I’d have a drink with him. I made strawberry pina coladas. I am definitely a “fat kid” at heart. While blending my pina colada I started going through the cabinet to find something to add to it. I was hoping to find some canned pineapples but instead I found some COCONUT! :-) As if that wasn’t enough I remembered that we had frozen strawberries so of course I had to add those. By the time I added strawberries and coconut I needed to balance it out so, in went more ice, mix, and more rum. Scott doesn’t really care for Pina Coladas. Long story short, I now have a pitcher of Pina Colada to myself…this will be interesting. ha

I had classes all day today and when I got home Scott and I played some xbox. I didn’t do too well and by that I mean I got last place. Even the computer beat me. lol Scott also took interest in my few ideas for our wedding. :-) I like it when he wants to or pretends to take interest in things like that….he knows it makes me happy. He tries to show some interest but I think I lose his attention, with all my Sabrina’ness.

Speaking of wedding, I sent Scott’s Grandma Young a thank you card for the ring and some pictures of our engagement day. I got a note from her today. She has matching cardinal stationary, stamps, stickers, address labels, and cards…very cute. I have been such a scatter brain lately (more so than my usual self) and forgot that I had written her so it was a pleasant surprise. It was a very sweet note. :-) I love Scott’s family and am really glad that I will someday become an addition. sigh… so I went in and added this paragraph after I already wrote my blog and made a porkchop film annnd I’m feeling pretty cozy right now. :-) 2 pina coladas later. hehe

I think I might have to change my blog’s name to “all about Porkers”. So Porkchop got a bath today. Poor thing. We have garden tubs so there’s no escaping. I always try to make the baths somewhat enjoyable before I torture him. I sit him in it while the water is filling up and he is in water bowl heaven. He will sit there and attempt to drink the entire tub of water. He’s such a goof and very spoiled. Porkchop sometimes will drink his water like he has never had water before. Porkchop is definitely a suiting name. He will dive his entire head into the bowl. Scott and I played porkchop in the middle which wore him out. I gave him some water to try and cool him off and he went to town. I don’t know about him sometimes. At least he keeps us laughing.

Well, helllooo

porkchop 005 Okay, my header is kind of lame…I’ll spice it up in the next blog. Last weekend Scott was working a event in Nevada. Porkchop and I held down the fort at home. I have been really good about not allowing him to sleep in our bed because I don’t want him to be a bed dog….buuut even with my fort of pillows I felt lonesome. It’s really funny that I’m like this now because just 2 months ago Scott and I were both consistently traveling and gone for up to 2-4 and sometimes even 5 days out of the week. I got by just fine. Maybe it’s because before I would be at a hotel or because I had my own apartment. Whatever the case, I sure miss him when he is gone. Especially when Porkers is going bananas.

There’s nothing too exciting to blog about. Today is my first day off since the beginning of this month!!! :-) Okay, that’s not really exciting news but it’s awesome for me! hehe It’s funny, since I started writing these blogs I sometimes go through daily activities thinking of things that I can write. Like if I hear or do something funny I’m like “ooooh, I should write that down”. lol Who does that? I don’t know… Oh, but I did have word vomit the other day. I’m pretty goofy and often I don’t really put much thought into what I say. I just say things that are funny to me but realize after nobody laughs, my comment may have not been that funny. I then feel awkward and feel the need to justify my statement.

At work the other day, I had a lady drink probably a galloon of tea. I think I filled up 3 carafes of tea for her. As I dropped off the check I was like “I’ll take care of this whenever you are ready and the restrooms are in the back”. I was joking and not insinuating anything but she didn’t laugh. I then realized what I said and how offensive it was. aghhh Talk about sticking my foot in my mouth. I have actually done that before on a flight. A passenger came to the front of the plane before take off to ask me if she had enough time to go to the bathroom in the terminal and I quickly responded “if you’re going number 1 yes and if your going number 2, no”. she stared at me for a split second and darted off. I then heard the pilots laughing and turned to look at them just to have them say. “I can’t believe you just said that”. lol and then of course it dawned on me what I had just said…lol I’m definitely not the most PC person.

porkchop 026porkchop 024Domino and Emily stopped by on Monday for a little bit. Porkchop and Domino absolutely love each other which is awesome. They are the cutest things to watch when they get together. Even though Porkchop and Domino are the same age, Domino is taller and has the ability to jump on the couch. Poor Porkchop tries really hard, especially when he sees Domino do it with such ease, but his legs are just too short. Porkchop is training right now and has already mastered sitting, I uploaded a video of his performance. I’m now trying to teach him to shake. He hasn’t done it on his own yet but he has stopped gnawing at my hand when I reach for his paw. Hopefully by next week he’ll be able to shake. Maybe I should say “ it’s so nice to meet you Mr. Porkchop” and see if he’ll do it on his own.

I changed the page up a little. I think the last color was a little too dark. I also have some pictures of Porkchop. He is getting bigger which saddens me. He has grown into this little blue polo and pretty soon I think it will be too small for him. :-(

Okay, I lied!

IMG_5355

My brother drove up tonight. Him and Scott are doing what they always do when they get together, playing xbox. This means I am bored, sooo I started browsing some wedding sites.I joined theknot.com which has awesome wedding ideas and pictures from actual weddings. I know I said I wouldn’t dab into any planning until we get at least a year out from the date but I can’t help it. I’m a girl and crafty annnd I don’t think I need an excuse! hehe My favorite store, Hobby Lobby had a sale on their wedding stuff. For those of you who don’t know what Hobby Lobby is, it’s a huge craft store, also my home away from home. That store does things to me! I go in there with the intentions of just getting some yarn or fabric and the next thing you know I have a shopping cart….my mind goes all Martha Stewart in there. Anywho, they had a sale so I decided to take a look and only get items that would be practical and useful even if I did change my mind on things. 50% off! sigh, I ended up buying some labels, ribbon, a wedding craft book, and paper to play with wedding invitation ideas. I’ve decided that I want to do Tiffany blue. I made some really cute invitations that look similar to a Tiffany’s box. I also found brides maids dresses that I want to go off of. I want them to be tiffany blue but this style. I like the tea length, and the white ties. I also found a cute pillow that I will probably make and a cake. I like the that it looks like it has a pearl necklace on each tier but I think I might end up doing a white cake. themes_tiffanyblue_ringbearerpillow_sublarge_imagecake182

Other than that, today is Derek’s birthday(my brother) so HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEREK! I love you! :-)

I don’t have any new picture of Porkchop but today I cut his hair! lol I actually think I did a good job. I have to get some use out of the clippers I bought to give Scott hair cuts with. Scott won’t let me cut his hair but Porkchop doesn’t really have an option. Ooh and I did take a picture of dinner. I made some chicken.

exhausted!

I haven't gotten a chance to write a blog for a while. I actually haven't had a day off since Scott and I got back from Ohio. Between school and work, I'm exhausted! I couldn't have asked God for a better fiance. Scott has been beyond wonderful and very supportive. There are days I just want to lay on the couch and not move, but 10.07.08 023then I see how Scott trying really hard to pick up extra chores around the house. I normally do all of our laundry but this weekend I worked all day Saturday and Sunday. Scott not only did all the laundry but cleaned the kitchen. I know to some this may not seem like a big deal but to me it means so much. I guess I'm kind of old fashion and see these as things I'm supposed to do. I know that sounds silly, but that's just how I was raised. I think that's why Scott and I fit well together, b.c our mannerisms are similar. He is a care taker when it comes to opening the doors, before we go to sleep he always gets up to make sure the door is locked, when it's late he takes Porkchop potty, he takes the trash out...etc. He protects me and I feed him...lol

Well, there's not a whole lot to catch up on but here's the latest on:

Wedding Planning:
There's not much progress in this area since I last blogged. I did buy a used wedding planning book at half price book store for like $5. It was barely used and I just whited out what the previous owner wrote. As far as wedding planning goes, I don't think there will be too much to update everyone on until next summer. As of right now, we are thinking of April 24th date wise. I would just like to have a Venue booked for our reception and I've asked Scott to make a list of everyone he wants to attend. Because we are planning to wed in Ohio, I wanted to get this taken care of so I can send out save the dates to my family and friends who will have to make travel arrangements. I've also asked Scott's mom for any suggestions she might have. I've also narrowed the colors to either yellow(softer shade) or tiffany blue, I'm leaning more towards Tiffany blue. I'm really looking forward to the planning process and hope Scott's mom and I can bond. :-) Oh annd I've asked my sister if my nephew/godson could be our ring barrier. He'll be 2 1/2 by then. I think the planning process will take place once we're closer to a year from the date.

10.07.08 00110.07.08 008Mr. Porkchop:
Porkchop has a little lady friend who happens to be the same age as him. They get along great! Her name is domino and I believe she's a beagle/ cocker spaniel mix. He enjoys playing with her and her owner Emily and I enjoy each other's company so it works out great. We're also the same age, which is nice. Emily even introduced Porkchop to these little mini bones which he loves. Scott and I got him some more because he hides them in different spots. I found one in my school bag this morning.

10.07.08 011 After class last week, I took Porkchop to the park. Porkchop is definitely a ladies magnet. He attracted an 80+ year old woman who absolutely loved him and even stopped joggers who couldn't resist his puppy face or sexy face. He's a conversation piece and loves the attention. Porkchop has a big bark for a little dog but he is timid to the unknown. He enjoyed barking at the ducks from a distance but once the were just steps in front of us he had nothing to say. 10.07.08 02710.07.08 025

Porkchop has gotten a lot better about potty training. He still has little accidents every now and then but he has learned to communicate with us when he needs to go. Last week Porkers went to the vet and weighed in at 11lbs. The vet told us he would probably get up to 18-20lbs, which saddens me; I don't want him to get any bigger. He 10.07.08 031was really good at the vet. Everyone seemed to love Porkchop and his name. They poked fun at his ears and said he would make a good Yoda, but none the less were very sweet. We discovered you can give him as many shots as you want to, just so long as he has treats to eat. As we were leaving the vet Porkchop ran into an 10week old puppy...he just so happened to be another Westie. I read that Westies are considered to be conceited but that didn't make sense to me until we saw Porkchop interact with this puppy. It was as if Porkchop was staring into a mirror of a younger version of himself. lol

* Just a side note, there's a comment link you can click on to leave comments on any blogs...just so long as you're not correcting my grammar. I reread some of the previous blogs and I know there are some grammar errors.

Whoa, What a week!

Last week Scott's company had a yearly get together. Scott's friend Mike flew in on Monday and stayed with us until Thursday. The guys worked all week long on gutting 3 out of 7 Microsoft Across America trucks. On Monday, they had a 10.03.08 02310.03.08 027company picnic and Scott invited me. It was nice meeting all of his co-workers and finally being able to see what Scott does at work. All of his co-workers were super nice and informed me how much Scott talks about me. I enjoyed being praised from people I've never met before. :-) One of the trucks was equipped with Microsoft's new Surface PC; Scott demonstrated how it worked. It was a touch table top PC, similar to an iphone but on a larger, 20x better scale. The week was pretty chaotic with the guys working roughly 16 hours every day. I felt bad for the guys so I baked them some cupcakes and made them some Korean food to bring to everyone at work. Because we planned on going to Ohio that weekend, I picked up extra shifts after school. Once Thursday, came we were both exhausted but were still looking forward to our weekend in Ohio.10.03.08 041

On Friday, Scott and I took the early morning flight to Detroit. From Detroit we drove to Toledo, Huron, and Bowling Green, Ohio. We first went to Toledo to re-visit the University Scott graduated 10.03.08 044 from, Toledo University. He showed me around campus, the dorm, and house he used to live in, and the tech building where he spent the majority of his time at. It was really nice seeing where Scott spent his college years and hearing the stories he had.

From Toledo we went to Scott's family cottage in Huron. We went to Huron to meet his parents for dinner and Scott's grandma asked him to package a TV she had at the cottage. We reached the cottage around 5'ish and the first thing I noticed was that a sun dress probably wasn't the greatest idea; it was chilly. After Scott packed up the TV, he wanted to go outside and take a walk by the lake. I grabbed a blanket from the cottage and followed.

10.03.08 04510.03.08 04910.03.08 048Once we got outside, I had a change of heart. I was freezing my tush off; if my goose bumps weren't enough of an indication, my teeth chattering were. Scott insisted we go down and helped keep me warm. The view was breath taking and once we stopped walking I told Scott that "we should get married here." He replied "we would need to be engaged first" and my response was a huge hug and an "I knooooow." He then told me he had been meaning to talk to me about that. He began to bend down and with out much thought I tried to help him back up. Before I knew it, he was on one knee with a jewelry box in one hand. He nervously told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him. I'm not sure why it hadn't registered in my head but I initially 10.03.08 050just stood there looking dazed. Once I realized what just happened, I was consumed with emotions and began crying. I gave 10.03.08 051Scott the biggest hug and told him I loved him soo much. Scott then reminded me that I hadn't answered him nor did I put on the ring. lol I responded with YES and allowed him to put the ring on my ring finger. At this point I was a mascara, crying mess. Scott informed me the ring was a family heirloom and had belonged to his great grandmother, which made me cry more. I felt so blessed, honored, and loved that much more.

I decided that reapplying make up would be a wasted effort. We10.03.08 05310.03.08 052 met up with Scott's parents at one of Scott's favorite childhood restaurants. I was excited to see his parents and celebrate the news! His mom was so happy for us and his dad gave me a little history on the ring. I'm really glad Scott planned everything the way he did because it was nice being able to share our excitement with his parents and my future in laws :-) .

After dinner, Scott and I drove to Bowling Green and met up l_e36ab1f0961f4e63adca99beaf261d25with his friends. We stayed the 10.03.08 056 weekend with his friend Wendy. All of his friends seemed to be super happy for us and congratulated us on our engagement. For the entire weekend they referred to Scott as my future husband or fiance which sounded a little weird at first but not in a bad way. It's definitely something we both have to get used to, having a fiance.

We haven't set a date yet but we plan to wed sometime in spring 2010 and in Scott's hometown, Norwalk, OH. We decided to wait a little while to save some money and because Scott has 2 close friends who are getting married next year. I will be sure to keep everyone updated on what's to come. I did buy my first bridal magazine for our flight home. :-D I'm excited to be the future Mrs. Sabrina Marie Young and can't stop looking at my left ring finger.
